KOICA Invests in Dangkor Referral Hospital Upgrade to Boost Healthcare in Phnom Penh

Phnom Penh, April 8, 2024: The Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) has announced its commitment to upgrade the Dangkor Referral Hospital in Phnom Penh’s Khan Dangkor into a state-of-the-art medical facility. The hospital, soon to be known as CPA 2 Hospital, will feature cutting-edge technology and a team of highly skilled healthcare professionals.

The agreement for the “Project to Improve Public Health Services at Dangkor Referral Hospital, Phnom Penh” was formalized last week, with Phnom Penh Governor Khuong Sreng and KOICA Cambodia Office Country Director Choi Moon Jung witnessing the signing.

A press release from the KOICA Cambodia Office revealed that the upgrade is supported by an $11 million grant from the Korean government, spread over six years from 2024 to 2029. The initiative aims to significantly broaden the range of services offered by the hospital, including medium-level surgery, maternal and child healthcare, and internal medicine. This enhancement is expected to drastically improve healthcare accessibility for the residents of Khan Dangkor and neighboring communities.

The project highlights the robust partnership between Cambodia and Korea, illustrating how international cooperation can lead to substantial improvements in healthcare access and the overall well-being of Cambodia’s population.
